Apply for an internship at LO/TCO/Saco's Brussels office
Take the chance to learn more about the EU at a representative office in the EU's capital!
LO, TCO and Saco's joint Brussels office has the task of monitoring the cooperation in the European Union and supporting the work of the central organizations and their affiliates for a European policy that corresponds to the interests and needs of their members.
We who work here work for all three organizations at the same time. With us, as an intern, you get great opportunities to contribute to the work we do. The work includes qualified knowledge gathering from the EU institutions and other stakeholders in Brussels and reporting it to the home organizations. The responsibilities also consist of participating in network meetings, seminars and conferences in Brussels, as well as assisting with some practical tasks, for example support in organizing events. The goal is that the internship should lead to an increased general understanding of the EU institutions and their functioning and a deeper understanding of how the work with trade union political issues works within the EU.
We are looking for you who have a good ability to express yourself in writing and orally in both Swedish and English (knowledge of French or other European languages is advantageous). You also have a great interest in Europe and knowledge of how the EU's decision-making processes work. We assume that you also have a great interest in trade union-political issues.
The basic prerequisite is that you are enrolled as a student at a university and that the internship forms an integral part of a relevant university education. Citizenship in one of the EU member states is required for formal reasons.
The internship is not paid, which requires own funding, for example through student funds and possible scholarships (Erasmus+). We pay for a return trip from Sweden to Brussels, and a monthly pass for public transport in Brussels during the internship period. In terms of accommodation, the intern either arranges accommodation by themselves at their own expense – the range is quite large and the office can contribute with tips – or the office can offer a simple accommodation in the office's property free of charge. Note, however, that you may have to share common areas with other residents at times.
Autumn semesters: For internships during the autumn, the application deadline is March 15 every year.
Spring semesters: For internships during the spring, the application deadline is October 15 every year. After the application deadline, we make a selection, after which some candidates are called to an interview and a simpler performance test.
